Saturday Spotlight!
Saturday Spotlight Series
4-H BC is fueled by the dedication and heart of our incredible members and leaders. To show our appreciation, we’re launching the Saturday Spotlight Series—a way to celebrate those who make a meaningful impact in their clubs and communities.
This series comes directly from you, the 4-H BC community! Whether it’s a leader who gives their time to mentor youth or a member who shows outstanding dedication and growth, these spotlights shine a light on the amazing people who make 4-H so special.
We are beyond grateful for the individuals who inspire, support, and strengthen 4-H BC every day. If you know someone who deserves recognition, nominate them so we can celebrate them together! 💚
April 5th, 2025: MEMBER SPOTLIGHT JANESSA R.
This week, we’re celebrating nominated member Janessa R, now in her 11th year with 4-H, Janessa started as a Cloverbud and has grown into a committed leader. This year marks another exciting milestone—her first year as a 4-H BC Ambassador! Janessa’s enthusiasm for 4-H shines through in everything she does. Over the years, she has been actively involved in photography and sheep projects, while always finding ways to promote the program and encourage younger members. Her dedication is truly remarkable—she has successfully completed 35 projects, even maxing out with four projects per year for seven years straight (including 2025)!
Beyond her personal achievements, Janessa has played a key role in supporting her club and community. She has held multiple executive positions at the club level and, in 2022 and 2024, represented her community as a Kamloops Ambassador, traveling across BC to promote the region. Janessa continues to take on leadership roles, acting as club treasurer and managing multiple livestock projects, including a market lamb, ewe lamb, yearling ewe, and carcass lamb. Her ability to balance responsibilities while excelling in every aspect of 4-H makes her an inspiring role model for members across BC.
Janessa’s impact doesn’t stop at the club level—she has represented 4-H BC on the national stage! She proudly traveled to Washington, DC as part of the Canadian delegation to Ignite by 4-H, showcasing her dedication to youth leadership. She has also participated in Provincial Club Week and Youth Action, continuing to develop her skills and inspire others.

Janessa also reached an impressive milestone early in her 4-H journey, earning her Honor Pin in Grade 10. Her commitment to learning, leadership, and service truly embodies the 4-H motto: "Learn to Do by Doing."
4-H BC is proud to have Janessa as part of our community, and we can’t wait to see where her 4-H journey takes her next! 💚
