4-H@Home: Your Exciting New Way to Experience 4-H!

4-H BC, in conjunction with BC Dairy, is excited to introduce 4-H@Home- a fantastic opportunity for youth to explore the 4-H experience through fun, hands-on online projects. Whether you're 9 or 14, you can join from anywhere in the province—even if there’s no active 4-H club near you! Already a 4-H BC member? 4-H@Home is perfect for you too! Sign up today to try a project you’ve always been curious about.

4-H@Home offers exciting 6-week projects delivered in lively 1 to 1.5-hour online sessions. Each project provides a high-level introduction to a variety of 4-H-inspired topics. No experience? No problem! Beginners are absolutely welcome unless otherwise noted. 4-H@Home is open to all BC youth aged 9-17. Whether you’re a current 4-H member or brand new, you’re invited! And if you’re not already a member, we hope this will inspire you to join the 4-H family after participating.

We are committed to ensuring inclusivity, so youth with diverse abilities are welcome, but parent/guardian support may be needed to ensure the best possible experience.

Discover the joy of caring for and training dogs through the 4-H BC @ Home Dog Project. Whether you have a dog at home or are eager to learn more about canine care, this project offers a hands-on experience that promotes teamwork, creativity, and lifelong friendships within the 4-H community. Join us to unleash your potential and make a difference in the lives of dogs and their owners!

  • Dog Project

    • In this 6-week interactive course, you’ll learn the basics of dog care and obedience. You’ll dive into clicker training, dog breeds, health and anatomy, grooming, mental enrichment, and get an introduction to the 4-H Dog project.

    Suitability:

    • Ideal for young dog owners aged 9 and up.

    • Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:30 PM, October 23 – November 27, 2024

The Dairy Project for 4-H @ Home offers youth an exciting opportunity to explore the world of dairy farming from the comfort of their own homes. Participants will learn the fundamentals of dairy cattle care, including nutrition, health, and milking practices. . This project emphasizes responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of animal welfare while fostering a deeper understanding of where dairy products come from.

  • Dairy Project

    • Dairy is more than just milk! Join this 4-H@Home Dairy project to discover the complete dairy cycle. You’ll meet a dairy farmer, learn about cow care, how milk goes from farm to fridge, basics of cheese-making, and much more!

    Suitability:

    • Perfect for youth aged 9+ who are curious about cows or how food gets from farm to table. No prior dairy or farming experience required!

    • Tuesdays, 4:30 – 6 PM, October 29 – December 4, 2024

Discover the art of baking and decorating with the Delicious Decorated Desserts project in 4-H @ Home. This engaging program invites youth to explore their creativity in the kitchen while learning essential baking skills. Participants will experiment with various techniques for frosting, piping, and garnishing to create visually stunning and scrumptious desserts. Join us as we whip up delicious treats and celebrate the sweet rewards of creativity and hard work!

  • Delicious Decorative Desserts

    • Get creative in the kitchen! This 4-H@Home project teaches the essentials of creating beautifully decorated desserts. Learn about the right tools, recipes for cookies, cupcakes, and icing, and get hands-on experience with piping and fancy finishes.

    Suitability:

    • Designed for youth aged 9+ with some kitchen experience. You’ll need access to a kitchen and workstation, with fun assignments to complete between sessions.

    Dates:

    • Tuesdays (Time TBD), November 5 – December 10, 2024
